High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest After Hollywood Shooting
Hollywood, MD – A high-speed police chase that began in St. Mary’s County and ended in Charles County led to the arrest of a Bushwood man in connection with a shooting incident in Hollywood.
On Friday, November 1, 2024, at approximately 11:50 PM, emergency services responded to a reported shooting on Breezy Lane. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 19-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
As authorities investigated the shooting, a white Dodge Ram pickup truck was observed fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed. A police pursuit ensued, reaching speeds of up to 122 mph. The chase concluded on Route 301 near Mitchell Road in La Plata, Charles County.
John Curtis Reeves IV, 23, of Bushwood, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact, a felony, as well as numerous traffic violations.
Reeves is currently being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on November 4, 2024, for a bail review hearing, followed by a preliminary hearing on November 19, 2024.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the shooting incident and the circumstances surrounding the high-speed chase.
